Explore a boom-to-bust homestead community on Colorado's eastern plains. Keota was founded in 1880 by Mary and Eva Beardsley and settled largely by Scandinavian immigrants arriving on the Old Prairie Dog Express railroad. The town served a farming community of 1,250 homesteads that thrived during the First World War as demand for wheat soared. Today, Keota lives on through the memories of its original residents and their descendants.
